Make Your Loved One a Barnsdall Art Park Foundation Member Today!

It’s the holiday season, and another amazing year at Barnsdall is coming to an end.  Barnsdall Art Park Foundation has grown by leaps and bounds this year, expanding our events, our membership program, and our support of the Park: we purchased a new stage curtain for the Theatre and new projectors for art installations at the Municipal Art Gallery; we are working to bring a Museum Store to Barnsdall Park in 2013; we provided free art workshops for nearly 1000 children this year alone as part of our Sunday Free Art Workshops; and our events like the wine tastings, movie nights, and the Eat Drink ARt gala have continued to bring our Los Angeles community together.

Join us to support community arts this season by becoming a Barnsdall Member Today! Your membership will include:

  • Special Member Events and Previews
  • Membership Card with discounts at our favorite local eateries and shops
  • Signature Barnsdall Tote Bag
  • Golden Tickets to 2014 Wine Tasting Season - can be used at Sold Out events!

Your support ensures Barnsdall remains a vibrant and forward-looking community, by making art accessible in all its forms and enriching the cultural opportunities available in our diverse and dynamic City.

Barnsdall Art Park Foundation Supports Hollyhock House’s Bid to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Barnsdall Art Park Foundation has been working with Hollyhock House’s curator Jeffrey Herr to support our beloved house’s candidacy for a UNESCO World Heritage Listing along with several other Frank Lloyd Wright buildings.  That quest is now in jeopardy due to the US government’s non-payment of UN dues.  We sent the below letter to our U.S. Senators, and are working with other local support groups to do the same.

Email us to get involved, or tweet the following: “@SenFeinstein @SenatorBoxer Support #HollyhockHouse‘s bid to become a World Heritage Site http://www.barnsdall.org/?p=898 @barnsdall”

page-artcenter

Have an old iMac or G5 desktop? If you do, Barnsdall Art Park Foundation is accepting donations for the Barnsdall Art Center’s photography and graphic design classes.  The Art Center is in desperate need of more Macs for its design-based classes.  As you know, design has gone digital, and we want to help the students at Barnsdall Art Center keep up with the times.

If you have an old iMac or G5, wipe it clean and then email us at info@barnsdall.org. We will handle the tax-deductible donation. It’s the holiday season, and now is the time.

Outdoor Screening of ‘Inception’ October 4th!

The popular Outdoor Movie Nights return to Barnsdall Park on Friday October 4th for one night only with a screening of Inception!

Directed by Chris Nolan, and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Ken Watanabe, (and don’t forget the great Tom Berenger), this mind-bending film is auteur filmmaking on a grand scale.

Silverlake Wine will be serving wine flights and KCRW DJ Dan Wilcox will be spinning before the start of the screening, so come early and get a good seat to watch on our 20-ft outdoor screen! #barnsdallmovienights

Fun fact: Leonardo DiCaprio is a Los Feliz native, and took classes at Barnsdall as a kid.

Wine Tastings Extended thru September 27th!

wine_tasting_extended_4

The summer of 2013 has been our most successful year ever for our wine tasting season!  And because of their popularity, for the first time we are EXTENDING the summer wine tastings through September! That gives you four more chances to enjoy the food, wine, sunsets, music, and neighborhood togetherness that have made Barnsdall Fridays an essential part of summer in Los Angeles.

A big thank you to Silverlake Wine, KCRW’s Dan Wilcox, Jeffrey Herr, Leslie Thomas, Erin Senne, all the food trucks, and the Barnsdall Art Park Foundation members who have put so much love and effort into this season’s wine tastings, Avidan Ross and Hutson Morris-Irvin.  Thank you!
