Barnsdall Art Park is the only public community art park in Los Angeles and we need your support.
This holiday season we are offering a unique opportunity to give your loved ones and friends a gift that is like no other, while simultaneously supporting our efforts to maintain and protect the park, its icons and the integrity of its community based arts programming. Consider these holiday gift opportunities:
2010 has been one of great activity for มูลนิธิ Barnsdall Art Park, a support organization for Barnsdall Art Park:
ศูนย์ Barnsdall Art held over 150 weekly classes for children and adults. Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hollyhock House hosted over 10,000 guests in guided tours, while it continues to be restored and refurnished. The หอศิลป์แห่งชาติ held 7 exhibitions showcasing contemporary Los Angeles artists—including an Open Call for hundreds of local artists judged by curators from LACMA and the Hammer Museum—and generated significant accolades throughout the artistic community as a result.
The Barnsdall Friday Summer Wine Tastings have brought over 6,000 people to enjoy the majestic setting of the park and เฮ้าส์ Hollyhock. Saturday evenings in October, the Park hosted hundreds of people to enjoy screenings of architecturally significant films shot in our surrounding community.
Your support of the wine tasting and movie night events helped sponsor Free Art Sundays, offering over 1,500 children and adult community members the opportunity to explore creativity and art with their own hands.
We hope you share in our pride in these accomplishments, as well as our desire to achieve much more.
While Barnsdall Art Park has emboldened a community arts renaissance, the struggling economy has put extreme pressure on the Park. The City department which runs much of the Park has had its staff and budget severely cut. As a consequence the City has initiated a process to partner with a non-profit organization to sustain Barnsdall Park in the future. The มูลนิธิ Barnsdall Art Park continues to work with the City to ensure that this process does not strip the community of the wonderful resource it has had for over 50 years. For the last decade, the มูลนิธิ Barnsdall Art Park has been raising money and funding projects to enhance the Park. We ask for your help so we can continue this important work.
